"Ascension."

Renowned Tallinn muralist Andrei Lobanov has completed installation of his new work - a stained-glass window "Ascension" in the altar window of Viru-Nigula Church.

Artist Andrey Lobanov, who works in the classical style, has been commissioned by the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church to create the stunningly expressive Ascension stained glass window for one of the oldest stone churches in the country, Viru-Nigula Church. The new altarpiece, over five meters high, transformed the church, filling it with light, love, and warmth.

Tallinn is well known for its stained glass workshops and remarkable works by stained glass artists, but Andrey Lobanov's Ascension clearly stands out from the general range of works by glass artists, setting a new level of contemporary creativity in church themes.

Andrei Lobanov is known, in particular, for his Twelve Apostles at St. Nicholas Church in Tallinn, his mosaic at St. Alexander's Church in Narva, and many other works made for churches and by private commissions. Not long ago Lobanov completed a number of works for Orthodox churches in Russia; these stained glass windows also immediately attracted the attention of the public and connoisseurs.
